I also didn't have granny smith, but used 2 other tart apples and instead of the apple juice which we didn't have, I used white wine....so yummy! I love the folded in crust design - and I've never used butter on a pie top (usually egg) so I can't wait to try it! (Everything is better with butter, right?!) The pie was so tasty and perfect!! My first time baking was a true success and I actually enjoyed it!! aside from my doorman coming up to my apartment ringing my bell thinking there was a fire( a little juice spilled in the oven and smoke went every where) i told him no fire- just me cooking =) he later enjoyed a slice of pie also!
