Most of you have seen my slow cooker featured in recipes on Southern Plate. I’ve actually gotten several emails regarding it. What brand is it? Where did you get it? Do you like it?
Well folks, it is a Hamilton Beach. My husband got it for me for Mother’s Day after I begged, pleaded, and left sticky notes all over the house about it and – I LOVE IT.
My slow cooker is by far the most loved item in my kitchen. The three different sized bowls are handier than you could ever imagine. Creating large servings of stew for a crowd or even using the largest and smallest together to create a slow cooker water bath as I did in my Slow Cooker Oatmeal. The middle sized bowl is the perfect serving size for a meal for my family of four but I do love the options!
I used the largest bowl to make my Slow Cooker Apple Butter. The medium is just right for my Best Ever Beef Stew, Slow Cooker Chicken and Dressing, and Slow Cooker Lasagna.
The extremely durable finish on the bowls makes them easy as pie to clean, even after I’ve left them sitting overnight (which I know none of you EVER do!).
This is my first slow cooker with a “warm” setting and that has been SO nice to have!
The possibilities and uses for this appliance are positively endless!
Slow cooker comes with 2, 4, and 6 quart nestable bowls!

I have been eying this at Wal-Mart for the last few months!! I really think this would be a great option since it’s just me and my husband. Sometimes making a smaller meal would be handy, but other times making a huge crock of stew for freezing would be nice too!

I think creativity is important here… especially since nobody else has thought of it.
Oh Please, I need the Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker with its versatility. I would use the large pot when my hungry Marine Corp son is home. And he sure can eat a lot of stew, dumplings, etc. whatever is put in front of him. The smaller pots would be used when it is just hubby and I. I love cooking the crock pot way. There is nothing better than coming home after working at the hospital all day and smelling that great home cooked odor of seasoned beef or chicken. Your lasagna recipe was great.
I would love a new slow cooker – I NEED a new one, since I cannot use mine the way it was intended – I can not leave it on and unattended since I am afraid of a fire -it is soooooo old (from the late 70’s,it’s a strange butterscotch/brown/red color!). But, I can and do use it on occasion, and a new one would be great! It would be nice to learn a few recipes so I do not turn on the oven so often here in hot south Florida.

My favorite recipe for a slow cooker has always been been a beef pot roast with vegetables. I say “has always been” because now I want to try the recipe for slow cooker apple butter. I love apple butter, particularly homemade apple butter. Oh, with homemade bread made in the slow cooker, too. Oh, yeah, I have a bread pan for my slow cooker.
I first heard about a slow cooker that had three different sized bowls, of all places – in a knitting chat room. At first, I thought my knitting buddesses had lost their minds. I thought I had read the posting incorrectly. No, I read the posting correctly. Then, I realized some of my best buds were singing the same praises. I hadn’t actually seen the product until just now. Wow! Now, I want one. This looks like it would be a welcomed addition to our home. Each of us, my husband and I, has physical challenges. This would make it much easier for us to make sure that each has a hot meal each day – healthier for each and less stress making sure that each has the opportunity to get a healthy meal each day. Oh, very handicapped couple obviously needs one of these. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Hamilton Beach! Please tell us, very fixed incomers in this economy that we have won a new Slow Cooker.
My favorite Recipe is soooo easy.
Put a beef roast in the Slow Cooker. Place on low. Add salt and pepper and other seasonings you wish. Leave for 5 hours (more if necessary). Clean veggies that you like with the roast – we like potatoes (Golden Yukons), onions, carrots, and cabbage. Along with the vegetables, add some water and more seasonings. Cook for at least 3 more hours. I often par-boil the veggies to give them a jump start and reduce the cooking time and add some of the water from that to the slow cooker. This reduces the additional cooking time. The meat is so tender. The times may not be accurate for newer slow cookers – my slow cooker is at least 34 years old.
