Who’s cookin’ with Southern Plate?

If you’ve made a Southern Plate recipe and blogged about it, I’d love to know! Here are a few we found around the web since the last newsletter!

THIS takes the cake! I received an email from Tracey about a Southern Plate cookbook. In it she mentioned that she had tried and blogged about the Crock Pot Oatmeal. She was kind enough to include a link and when I went there I was scrolling down looking for the post and came upon a photo of her crock pot plugged up………..outside? I had missed the title of the post which was “Camping Fun”! How funny!!! You’ll have to read her story about how the Crock Pot braved the storm to see how it all turned out!
With a beginning of “We set the crock pot up and plugged it into the service pole beside our tent. I had no idea if bears like oatmeal or not or if the crock pot would even be able to stay warm with the cool air at night…” Its definitely a must read!

Stephanie at Fun Foods On A Budget made hoe cake! She says “It was fast and easy, and is definitely on my make-again-and-again list!!” She commented later that she had tried it again with cheddar cheese and it turned out fantastic! As soon as I get back from Disney, I am soooooooooo making it that way!

One of my favorite blogging buddies, Tina over at Mommy’s Kitchen made this beautiful Apple Orchard Snack Cake. Man, I’m hungry now!
I found this gorgeous pic of Apple Dapple Cake on Daysong Reflections, who says “I decided to bake one this morning to take to our church women’s fellowship this evening. You should have seen those ladies - they loved the cake! They were all telling each other “You have to have a slice of that cake!” or “This is the best cake I have ever eaten!” Fortunately they left enough for my husband and son to have a slice when I got home.”

Laura at Real Mom’s Kitchen made Pizza Rolls! “Have you ever seen somthing and think “Duh? Why didn’t I think of that?” When I saw this recipe from Christy at Southern Plate that’s exactly what I thought. When I saw this I thought, it’s basically sloppy joes with a pizza twist. Plus, this recipe is unbelieveably simple.” She also gave Southern Plate this award! Thank you, Laura!

I’ve added it to the site and linked it to your blog!

If you’ve made something from Southern Plate and have a photo of it on your blog, please email me and let me know so I can feature your photo and your blog in the next Newsletter!

I recieved another blog award but I can’t find it! I will post it in the next newsletter or make a special post of it as soon as I track it down from within my comments section! I’m just sick because it was a really pretty one and so nice of the person to give it to me!

I am in my hotel with the slowest internet connection since the dawn of mankind! LOL! Please don’t stop commenting though, I am enjoying so much reading them and can’t wait to get to respond to them all!

Donna YAY! I am so glad you like it!! I hope your mom likes her gift! I have had several people order additional copies for Christmas already, which thrills me TO DEATH as Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year! I even call it “Christymas” Sometimes!! hehe

Len Thank you, Laura! I’ll see about giving away a knife soon, thats a great idea! I think my next giveaway is even more handy, though!

Treva YAY I do hope you like it!! I am having a GREAT time in Disney, but this internet connection is SO SLOW! Between that and the heat, and the walking, most days we come back to the room and just crash! I am really enjoying this, but I will be glad when I can get home and respond to all of the great comments (and a few emails) that I haven’t gotten a chance to respond to yet! Please keep commenting, folks! I DO love to hear from you!

Jo WOW!!! THank you so much!!!!! I’ll post about that in my next newsletter!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Oh my, thank you!!!!!

Tina I miss you, too!!!! Trying not to wish my vacation away but only three more days til I am home! I am afraid most of Sunday will be spent working on homeword with my son, though! He had a whole folder to do this week (he is out of school for this trip) and I haven’t had the heart to make him do too much!

Billgent Bill, every time you comment I am reminded why you have become one of my very favorite people!! Thank YOU for YOUR kind words and generosity!

Angie Thank you!!! You know, it is kind of torturous on me having this site at times. I only post recipes that I absolutely love and so coming here and seeing all my personal and family favorite foods…~sigh~ …well the good side is (and there is ALWAYS a good side), I have been cooking more home cooked meals that I enjoy, even if my kids may not like them. LOL

I am so glad you enjoy the site though, Angie, especially since I know what a great cook you are!

Thank you to everyone! I promise to get caught up on comments and emails when I get home!!!

    Gratefully,
    Christy
