Oh wow, sorry to hear about your stove but glad to hear you were able to get one that you like. Let me know what you decide to do first.

OH.. anyone have a good recipe for pickles? Mine calls to soak them over night in a brine and they end up too salty to eat. I can't find one for just plain old vinigary pickles with plenty of dill and garlic. thanks

Just a thought, I bought a new stove and found out after I cracked the top that you cannot can on a ceramic stove top. Well you can but from everything I have read you need to have a special flat top.. *sighs deeply" I destroyed my flat top but since I never liked the stove and the oven thermometer kept messing up making my oven useless I loved buying a replacement. I did hundreds of can of beets this yr as friends and family wanted more. My mothers recipe book went missing so no one has her special recipes and I had to tweek one I found but I finallly make moms beets and we can't get enough of them. Thank you for the wonderful site and all the delicious recipes. I am going nuts trying to figure out what to do first.

Everyone who likes to cook should try to can at least once in their llife. My mom always canned tomatoes in the Summer. When I was a kid in Southern California they had "OPEN" tomato fields. That was when the pickers were finished and anyone could go and pick what was left. My mom, brother and always picked enogh for her to put up at least 20 qt jars. I never minded doing it, because may mom made lots of good stuff from them. One of my favorites was her macaroni and cheese with tomatoes. It was the best!!!

Fantastic info and video. Wish I had known about the towel in the bottom of the pot BEFORE I put out the money for a canner. Aw well.

Do you or your mama have a "recipe" for putting up vegetable soup? A gave me a quart of vegetable soup here mother put up. I was in love. Unfortunately her mother lives in Tennessee and we live in Ohio. I asked for the recipe and if they had been processed in water bath or pressure canner. Didn't get the recipe, but she sent message it was with water bath -- she never had/ used pressure canner. So I'm turning to my guru (you) for help. Thanks and keep up the wonderful work!
