Leftover Turkey, Hooray!

Waste not, want not! Those words hold more truth than ever right after our Thanksgiving feasts. Hopefully, you are fortunate enough to have had a turkey at your house and are blessed with leftovers. What to do with all of that turkey? First off, DON’T THROW IT AWAY!!! The very first thing I do is shred my turkey and place it in zipper sealed bags to freeze. If you have a little broth, put a tablespoon or so in each bag to ensure it stays nice and moist. I usually put about a cup and a half of shredded turkey per bag. That is a good amount for most casseroles and such and if you need more, simply get two bags from your freezer.

To help you use up those leftovers, here are some Southern Plate recipes in which you simple exchange turkey for the chicken and you’re off to the races! Why not use this time to try out some new dishes?!

Chicken Turkey And Dumplings

Chicken Turkey Salad

Chicken Turkey Noodle Soup

Our Family’s Chicken Turkey Stew

Chicken Turkey And Broccoli Casserole

Country Casserole

Cheesy Chicken Turkey and Corn Casserole

LET THE HOLIDAYS BEGIN!!!

Thankful for all of you,

Christy

Great post! I’ve been wondering about leftover turkey recipes. It’s going to be just me and my husband this year, and it will be not only our first holiday season as a married couple but also our first holidays without family of any kind. Even after hunting for the smallest turkey I could, it’s still going to yield a lot of leftovers! He loved your recipe for the chicken soup, so I think I’ll definitely do that one with the leftover turkey!

I know my computer is supposed to be packed away in a box now, since we’re moving really soon, but we ended up not packing it quite yet, and I couldn’t help but log on and check your blog – I always love your posts! Ooh, especially that Apple Dapple Cake – wow, that was some good cake!
