Christy Jordan, YOU are a life saver!!! My husband has never liked my cooking until I found your site, and bought your book. This morning he asked if I could make meatloaf and mashed potatoes for supper. In the 15 years we have been married, I have only made meatloaf once, and that was from homemade gourmet. Anyway, he wanted his aunt Wootie's meatloaf. Wootie is only 8 hours away in North Georgia and I knew I couldnt get her to make one and have it here by supper. All I remembered about her meatloaf was the Hunts meatloaf stuff in the can. So, I pulled up SouthernPlate.com and low and behold YOUR meatloaf has that Hunts stuff in it!! At that point, I knew I could "pull off" Aunt Wootie's meatloaf! I also made Meme's mashed potatoes and they were AWESOME!!! I ran out of time or we would have had Jordan rolls too. I did manage to fry up a mess of breaded okra though!! My husband was THRILLED!!!! He went back for seconds and told me I needed to make that again!! Thank you again Christy!!!

I half my meatloaf and flatten one half slightly...I put a couple (4) dollaps of cream cheese on top of first layer and sprinkle with Blue cheese crumbles..then slightly flatten second half and lay on top...kinda pinch the sides a bit to seal...I also use onions and peppers in the meat...when I make this there is no leftovers for the next day...it is just something I thought may be good and to me and a few I have served it to loved it...Christy your the best.

I was using Hunts meatloaf mix and moved to a state that
Didn't have it. Found out that Hunts Manwich is the same stuff.
Ingredients, smell and taste.

You can always ask a manager to order stuff for you. That's what I had to do in order to get the meatloaf sauce. :)

I grew up on my moms meatloaf. She adds chopped onion and bell pepper. I've never cooked it without them.

Love that Brady it ready to step into your shoes! lol It's good to know Southern Plate will be around for a long time! Love the recipes. I couldn't find the Hunts sauce, but substituted a can of Conchita sofrito sauce. It has chunks of peppers and onions and it made for a delish meatloaf.

Most people use oats or breadcrumbs for meatloaf. Our intention was to use breadcrumbs one day, but found that we were out. Quick thinking lead to a great discovery. We smashed up a small bag of Funions. That's right, the awesome onion ring snacks. Replace the oats with this, you'll love it!!
