Hi Christy, Boy do you have alot planned for us and it sounds WONDERFUL. Right now we can all use ways to save money on groceries and still make wonderful meals for our families. I would just love to win the coupon organizer but unfortunately do not live near a Food Lion. Also your brothers resteraunt sounds great but I live in PA so that is out the window too. Where do I find the best bbq joint in ATHENS?
Well shoot! We don’t have Food Lions in my part of the country. Oh well, good luck to the rest of you. Am looking forward to saving money on my grocery bill. I’ve just taken on my mom and my elderly sister. They were living together and now both need assistance. My mom is 91.

Sure would like the Food Lion coupon. It’s our store of choice in our area. Find the prices considerably lower than the other mkts. in our area.

My husband is from Alabama (the hollers as he calls it). We visit quite often and we have stopped by the Food Lions in that area often…especially when we go to Family get-togethers etc. A gift certificate would be a wonderful surprise. When we travel to see his folks sometimes we go over I-20 and sometimes we go over via Gadsden. I told hubby the next time we go over we need to swing by

I have been consistently saving 50% – 70% off my groceries each week since I was laid off in Nov 08 and have had more time to dedicate to couponing and being frugal. It has ALMOST saved me as much money as I was EARNING each week working!!! I have such a stockpile saved up and when my hubby was laid off as well in Feb we have really been able to save by only “shopping” from my pantry that i had saved! Now we have been able to get by on like $40 a week or less for a fam of four adults due to what i’ve saved!! I cant wait to see what else you have as far as ideas and tips for us to save even more. One of my best buys was last week I got 15 5oz packs of starkist tuna for only .34 a piece because of double coupons!!! it’s amazing how easy it is to save!!

I have heard great things about the Hickory Barn BBQ in Athens, but have not tried it. Now that I know it is your brother’s restaurant, I know it has to be good. I’m going to make it to Athens one of these days just to give it a try. (Only about 15 miles, a comfortable, leisurely drive).

I just googled the store locations for Food Lion stores and Glory Be! there are two right near my grandson’s apartment in Nashville, where he is attending college. Since I provide all of his groceries and meals (Mom and Dad pay tuition, rent, and utilities)the gift card would be a great help. WOW – small world. Our family LOVES the Hickory Barn. My father recently passed and your brother sent a ton of food to my mom’s house. I think she’s one of his most popular take-outers! My favorite is the chicken and potato salad. Everybody else, including my 7 year old go the ribs. I’m not a big rib eater, but his are delicious and the sauce is the best! We first discovered Hickory Barn at last fall’s Fiddlers Covention at Athens State. The BBQ sundae was a big hit. I believe that was just before the restaurant opened and it is the best in Athens! Especially great that it’s on our side of the county!

In these hard times, it is nice to find a site that can help me save some money for my family of 5. I read Anjie’s email almost every day and have gotten lots of good savings ideas from her for a couple of years now. I am the frugal one in my house and am just now getting my wife to think this way. I was so excited to see your email when I got home!!! We have been shopping for a freezer all day today–I think I will have one in my garage by next week! I LOVE coupons and good sales-the two of them together are the BEST!! A few years agao God showed me that I needed to be a good steward of what he has given me and my family and I think coupons and sales is a great way to do this. I just love this website! I’ve been your blog for several months, but this is actually my FIRST comment!! I’ve probably fixed over half of the recipes you’ve posted on here. It’s funny, the other night I made something I’ve never fixed before (that I didn’t get off of here), and my husband said “I bet you got this off of that Southern Plate, didn’t you”. I love Food Lion. They usually have some great sales to match up with coupons. I could really make that gift card stretch.

Many years ago, as a new bride, I lived just down the street from the original Food Lion. $10.00 would buy more groceries that I could carry home! Even though groceries prices have gone up tremendously Food Lion is still a great place to shop!

OK…I live in the home of Food Lion and I know groceries are going up EVERYDAY! I found your site through Southern Savers and I love it! I have already tried the Dixie Cornbread and the chicken stew. They are both hits at my house! My husband is waiting for me to make the chocolate gravy (I couldn’t believe that anyone else knew about it..he has always told me about his Mom making it for him as a child and I thought it sounded weird!).

We actually ate at your brother’s BBQ restaurant Hickory Barn BBQ in Athens this past Saturday. My dad had the BBQ sundae and I had the BBQ sandwich. It was delicious and I LOVED the decor inside! I have told several of my friends about it and hope they give it a try!!
