I never get tired of reading this post, filled with truth and tons of laughter. I got my man already, but, we all know “food=happiness” and cookin’ is good for hanging on to them! I got my man over 20 yrs ago w/ Surf n Turf, Cheesecake and throwing a big surprise party for his birthday just 14 days after I met him. ~flashes my diamond ring & wedding band~ Uh huh, I know …..food=happiness. ~grins~
Thanks for including Dixie Cornbread here. I will nevah evah put sugah in my beloved Dixie Cornbread, but will agree to “look the other way” if visiting someone else cooking a batch that tosses in some sugah……….

This is fabulous!! Christy, you are too funny. I am printing and saving this. Agree you need to put this in your next book!! Being a southern girl myself, I know all these things to be true. By the way, I have two cornbread recipes, Granny’s cornbread is the real southern deal and Berta Mae’s is my sweet one!!! Love um both. And yes maam, that cast iron skillet is the only thing that gives it that amazing crisp outside! Yum, I am making myself hungry!!

I actually got a marriage proposal in less than a month from my husband…Funny part was is he said that I let my mother cook for him first! I gently leaned over and said “promise you will let me cook for you.” He kept taking me out to eat until one night he came in and I was so tired of eating out I had a huge salad already fixed and steaks grilling on a small grill on the back porch!

I also had Cornbread made, and so other random stuff that I had made for my lunches! I said seriously lets take the money we would normally spend on going out and go grocery shopping! Let’s just say the guy drove and hour every night for dinner until he married me six months later, and would drive an hour back home..until I had a nasty fall and someone had to stay with me around the clock no one blinked when he took shifts of staying with me!

Couldn’t ask for a better hubby! He even bought me new pots and pans for my birthday! Red ones! Along with a weekends trip to the beach!
