10 Great Leftover Turkey Recipes!

Waste not, want not. Those words hold more truth than ever right after our Thanksgiving feasts. Hopefully, you are fortunate enough to have had a turkey at your house and are blessed with leftovers. What to do with all of that turkey? Recycle it into delicious meals for your family, of course!

The very first thing I do is shred my turkey and place it in zipper sealed bags to freeze. If you have a little broth, put a tablespoon or so in each bag to ensure it stays nice and moist. I usually put about a cup and a half of shredded turkey per bag. That is a good amount for most casseroles and such and if you need more, simply get two bags from your freezer.

To help you use up those leftovers, here are some Southern Plate recipes in which you simply exchange turkey for the chicken and you’re off to the races!  Enjoy :)

  1. Chicken And Dumplings

  2. Chicken Salad

  3. Chicken Noodle Soup

  4. Our Family’s Chicken Stew (Oh my goodness is this stuff good!)

  5. Granny Jordan’s Chicken Casserole

  6. Country Casserole

  7. Cheesy Chicken  and Corn Casserole

  8. Chicken  Lettuce Wraps

  9. Chicken Divan

  10. Mama’s Poulet

LET THE HOLIDAYS BEGIN!

Thankful for all of you,

Christy

P.S. This post was pre-scheduled. I’ll be back in a few days posting new recipes though! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The Chicken Poulet looks wonderful. I am wondering if I could just use left over dressing rather than buy stuffing? Anyone tried it this way?

Boy are we on the same page or what! I already shredded and froze most of my turkey last night with the intentions of make a few of your top 10!! We love your Country Casserole, Chicken Divan, and Chicken Poulet so they are all getting turkey makeovers in the near future!! We got a free turkey from our grocery store, so needless to say we ended up with a 22lb. bird for 4 people, lol, lots of leftovers!!

And Nan, I also was thinking how I could use leftover stuffing (sorry, I’m a Yankee!) for the Poulet, would love to know if someone did try it, too!!!

  7. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Hope you all had a wonderful time with friends and family.
My favorite recipe for leftover turkey is Louisville Hot Browns. Sliced turkey on toast with a creamy, rich cheese sauce topped with cooked bacon and put under the broiler until brown…yum!

I’m going to make turkey enchiladas (sp?) tonight with some of our leftovers. Figured I’d do them the same way as my chicken ones. I’ll let you know how they turn out.
