Southern Plate Cookbook Update!

This sign was sent to be yesterday by Andrew Malcolm to congratulate me on finishing the book. It was made online but BOY did it make my day with a round of giggles!
This morning I turned in the manuscript for the Southern Plate Cookbook which is being published by Harper Studios, a division of Harper Collins. The book is a combination of stories, classic Southern recipes, and some of the most gorgeous photos of Southern food I’ve ever seen. I have worked with an amazing team in putting this book together and I am just about to burst with excitement because I want you to see it so badly!
This is YOUR Cookbook, put together by using your input on what you wanted to see, what recipes you cherished most, and what recipes have been lost that you want most to reclaim for your family. I did include some of the most popular ones on Southern Plate but also made sure to add several exclusive good old fashioned recipes as well – the ones I’ve been asked for the most since starting Southern Plate. I feel just like a child whose colored you a picture and can’t wait for you to get home so I can present it to you! Thank you SO MUCH for giving me this opportunity and for helping me to write this book.
It will be available for pre-order this summer and will be in all major bookstores by the fall. I have one more wish, to make the dream come true for me, I’d sure love to get to meet you! I hope to see you at a book signing once it’s out. I’ll post my schedule as soon as it’s finalized. If you’re a member of the Southern Plate Family, I owe you a hug!
*Note: My self published cookbook is no longer available. Thank you to everyone who purchased it and everyone who has been kind enough to ask if there are any more. I sure do appreciate it and feel confident that you’ll enjoy my new book even more!
I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions for where book signings should be held in the comments below!
Gratefully,
Christy

My mom and I would vote for Lake Jackson, TX!!!! It is the next largest town to where we live, and there are quite a few in the area that are followers of your blogs.
I live in Lake Jackson and that sounds like a great idea Michele! You could even stop by NASA before heading home.
Michele and Quandora, I too live in Lake Jackson, TX and agree Christy should come here. We should get together and find other local ladies that love and follow southernplate.com
I believe Auburn Alabama would be a great place to have a book signing
I can’t wait to get your cookbook, Christy! You should come to my lovely hometown, El Dorado, Arkansas and do a book signing at Jefferson Street Books on the downtown square.
Amarillo, Texas!
I second that!! Amarillo would love to meet you!! It’s the largest town near the tiny town that’s near me : )
I’d love to see you in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. That’s the next largest town close to where I live. Can’t wait to get your cookbook! So excited for you and your family!!
I would second that as my in laws live there…and I would gladly drive two hours to get a copy signed. :0)
If you can’t make it to Cape, then go to St. Louis!!
While it’s not down-south, I would love to see you here in Denver, Colorado. I grew up in Missouri and my grandmother was from Hillham, Tennessee, so I come from good southern people! Congrats on your book!
Come on over to Charlotte, NC, Christy!! We’d love to have ya!! I am so excited for you!
If ya decide to go to Charlotte, head west to Asheville, NC. It’s only 1.5 hours longer and we have much prettier scenery. The huge Biltmore estate (largest house in America) is here and tons of hiking and waterfalls nearby. Lots of family friendly activities too. Also, if you come in the fall during leaf season, you may never want to leave our breath taking views. I’d even be your tour guide
We have several wonderful independent local bookstores (Malaprops is great!)and of course the chain bookstores.
Yay North Carolina!! I’m out in the sticks away from both of these places, but it would be worth the drive for sure!
Another place in North Carolina would be the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area – fondly known at the Triangle…we would love to have you in our neck of the woods…however, I would go anywhere in NC to see you and get your book!! Congrats and God Bless!
After you leave Ashville, drive a little farther South, thru Murphy, and Hayesville, N.C. and you will be in Blairsville Ga. We have a small town here in the mountains in a little bit O’God’s country. We would love to have you here. We have a lovely little independent book store—The Book Nook.
And then you could come on over to my house for dinner.
Thank you, Christy, I cant wait until your cookbook is available. We will enjoy it just as much as your every day blogs, facebook and emails. And especially enjoy all the great recipes that I know will be in this book.
So, from Charlotte, after of COURSE visiting Ashville, Raleigh, and Blairsville, come to Columbia, SC! Home of the Gamecocks!
Fayetteville or Asheboro, NC both would be cool. I live in a smaller town but both are like an 90 minute drive… Totally worth it.
Asheboro has a Zoo if you want to take the kids with you and do a US Zoo tour
Hey Christy,
Once you’re finished in Charlotte, NC head northwest to Hickory, NC (we have a great Barnes & Noble). You can stay on I-40 heading west and make your way to Asheville. Either way, I hope to meet you on your book tour!

Christy,
It’s not a bookstore but I sure would like to see you and your book on QVC with David Venable on his “Cooking with David” show on Sunday. He features at least one cookbook each week. Wouldn’t that be fun (and sell a lot of books)? I’ve e-mailed David so who knows?
If not QVC, definitely come to the Philadelphia suburbs!
I can’t wait to buy your book Christy!! Please make a stop at the West Cobb Avenue in Marietta, GA. There is a large Barnes and Noble there. http://westcobb.shoptheavenue.com/

Has your publisher checked into getting you into the Southern Women’s Shows? Everyone here loves to go to them. Memphis usually has authors at Davis-Kidd Booksellers if they are going to carry your book but the people that I know would enjoy your book may or may not be familiar with it. What about Baptist Bookstores or will they carry it? We would love to have you at our Angel Food regional meeting but probably couldn’t coordinate schedules… never know. Don’t forget about Ambassadors!Wherever you go, I’ll be there and I know my daughter would in Little Rock AR!
Don’t forget to have them also book you on morning shows with our Angelfood supporters! FOX 13 Memphis with Valerie Calhoun; CBS WREG 3 with Mary Beth Conley or April Thompson; WREC FOX Radio 600 AM with Debby Hall; NBC WMC 5 with Kontji Anthony; interview with Wendy Thomas at Commercial Appeal newspaper. You now have over 128 area churches waiting for you to come to the Mid-South. You can even go to Beale St. or go to the Neely’s restaurants here for true barbecue! If Sister Schubert can bring her rolls and cookbook to Memphis, you know you can because Jordan rolls top hers any day!
Christy,
We were in Trussville, Alabama but have recently moved. So, my vote is for Winston-Salem,NC. I would love to meet you. I love making recipes from your site and my honey loves them too.
Winston-Salem is close enough! Still about 1.5 hours away, but I guess I could deal with it just for this
Northwest Arkansas! Fayetteville, Bentonville, home of the Hogs and Walmart!
I ~third~ Madison! Can’t wait to get my hands on that book!
You need to come to El Dorado Arkansas! I am so excited for you! Congratualtions! What an accomplishment! Can’t wait to purchase one!
Gadsden or Oxford, AL. If I have to I will come to Huntsville or Birmingham to see ya, but if you are closer I can get some of my friends to come. After you get more information I will e-mail Rachel from Alabama Bloggers and see if I could do some sort of interview or write up about you and SP. That is what that site is all about supporting all the wonderful bloggers from our great state.
