Christie, thanks so much for your ground beef recipes. I love to whip up something fast some nights and some of these will be great! Since my kids are grown now, I still make the same recipes but put in smaller casserole dishes and freeze or my husband and I. Nice for welcome home with the new baby, or been in the hospital, let me bring you a few casseroles.
Thanksso much,
Steph

Whenever a recipe calls for Onions and I don't really care for Pieces of it - in things that I make - I use Onion Powder ! It is better than using Onion Salt as most things already have salt in them - and I can still get a little Oniony Flavor !

my opinion, I made this last week and did not care for it at all. I think I used too many tator tots, but just didn't like the flavor. probably one of the worst things that I've made.

but I generally like many of Christie's recipes though, and will keep trying them!

My Sweet Little Mama used to make a similar version of this she called Dinner in a Dish. She used regular potatoes sliced thinly, then layered the hamburger, canned carrots and a layer of peas. She would pour the tomato soup over the top and lay a few pieces of celery and some onion slices on the top to "make it look pretty!" :) This was always a favorite with our family. :)

Thanks for the cute and easy idea. With a three week old it is good to have simple recipes on hand and my 8 yrs old was just asking if we could add carrots to a shephards pie? I think this will be close enough to work.

I don't know what I did wrong, but my casserole didn't turn out right. The tater tots were limp, the carrots were perfectly cooked, but the entire dish was too cold. I baked it for an hour on 350 covered with foil, then I even tried taking off the foil for another 5 minutes to heat it up. Was my foil too thick? Should I have baked it for less time? What did I do wrong?
