Good Day Atlanta Cooking Segment (and behind the scenes!)

I had a GREAT time with the wonderful folks at Good Day Atlanta today. Thank you so much for having me! Here is a video clip from my appearance and some snapshots below in case you want to see it.

I got to get makeup. Love this part ! :)

This is me and Gloria. Gloria was my food stylist. When you are traveling and going to new towns and such, they hire a food stylist who lives in that town and shops for groceries, cooks your recipes to have as props on set, and designs the set and such. She makes sure you have all the utensils and ingredients you’ll need for on air. I only have a food stylist on this book tour when I’m doing cooking segments. A lot of my television segments are just straight interviews.

Gloria was amazing and I was so honored to get to work with her. She has worked with Julia Child, Paula Deen, and more!

Once we got the kitchen all set up, they wheeled it into the main set during a commercial break.

Getting it in the final location.

Mama took this pick. Thanks Mama!

This is me and Karen. Karen is the NICEST lady, I just loved getting to hang out and chat with her!

The view from the monitors.

Mama thought the teleprompter was neat. I do, too. :)

This is the meteorologist, Jeff Hill. Bradybug loves meteorology so I had to get a pic for him!

Me and Gloria again.

Karen and I sat down and got to talking and going through the cookbook and they ended up having to remind her that the show wasn’t over yet! hehe

Here is the crew coming in to eat up the rest of the food.

On the way out, I had to stop and take a photo of the television station. Isn’t it beautiful?

Oh my goodness, that was fun!

Christy, I am so glad you had a good time in Atlanta, and I’m glad your mom got to go with you. Wished I could have seen you and chatted longer this weekend in Guntersville at your book signing but I saw that you were so busy. Take care and have fun, you deserve it!!! Love, Audrey

    What a great video!
Also the pictures of “behind the scenes” were lovely. I really enjoyed visiting the TV studio with you, and WHAT a studio – absolutely magnificent.

  21. Su

Aaaw look at you, and look at mama just sitting there with that big ol’ camera in her hand snapping away at you!

  22. Oh my goodness you are the sweetest thing ever…and a natural! I would sooo watch your cooking show!

  23. Susan

I’ll say it again…you are a natural in front of the camera. Loved this. I only have one fault with you. You don’t care for mayonnaise….oh my gracious….that is one of the basic food groups for me. LOL I won’t hold that against you though. You’ll eat it in the comeback sauce…and I know you eat it in other things since you put it in your recipes. Loved meeting you last night in Atlanta. Hope to see you again one day.

  24. Mary at Deep South Dish

Congrats girl, you done good!! ;)

  25. Tamela in Central FL

Oh my gracious Christy!! As Andy Warhol said about everyone having their “15 minutes of fame”, you’re getting yours and them some!! Boy, do you deserve it.!!!! I’m waiting for Paula Deen to have you on her show next and then I’ll really flip for joy!!!

  26. Terri go Dawgs

Gracious y’all. To watch the video and to see how smooth and confident you were Christy, is SO cool! I love how it really does seem like this is just a friend in your kitchen. Atlanta now “knows” about Southern Plate and folks that have not had the confidence to cook, can now use your step by step pictures tutorials to see how it is done. Congrats on your book signing tour for the fabulous new cookbook!! Love you girl and so proud of you too.

  27. whackywheelers

I am so JEALOUS that all these folks are meeting you in person and there is not a one of your book tours near my town in Illinois! But, I’ll live vicariously through your updates and I know some of my family is coming out to meet you! We’re making chicken planks this weekend!

  28. Jean

    You go girl……………………………

  29. Laura

Great job!! I hope one day to find you with your own show! You’ve accomplished what I thought would be impossible as somebody in their mid 30′s who never learned to cook- you are teaching me to cook so many wonderful foods. Thank you so much for your recipes and stories, I have spent hours on this site reading all of the posts since I stumbled on here a few months back.
p.s. Chicken planks are definitely on the agenda here very soon!

  30. Charlene Cannon

You were absolutely wonderful on Good Day – a natural I’d say. Look out Miss Paula I think you may have some strong competition. I prepared the chicken strips and they were to die for. I can see your cookbook being on my Christmas wish list.
