I hope you enjoy this week’s video!
Since filming this I’ve made it twice so far for my family. I love that it only dirties up one pot and Ricky and I both love how meaty it is, too!

Christy,
Fab video! I always love your personality and the simple meal ideas! I love this blog by the way. As a girl from South Carolina, I just love that you have a made it so easy to make the dishes that myself (and my boyfriend) grew up with….thanks!
As for dinner for me this evening, we’ll be having spaghetti carbonara…I’m a bit scared to try it, but I really want do…bacon and eggs and cheese and pasta…who doesn’t love that in my family????
Have a great one! Thanks for being my inspiration to start my own blog!
What a great super easy recipe! Thank you Christy!
This looks great! I’ve never bought ravioli but I guess it will be on my grocery list this week! Great job!
Oh, You know I am going to cook this one! I have a lot of spaghetti sauce and this will be perfect way to use it! So quick and delicious! My Boys said “Thank You Miss Christy!” <3
This looks delicious! Betcha it would be a great meat sauce for spaghetti. Of course, you would have to use 2 pots. LOL. It is very warm here in TN. Tonight we are having chicken and dumplings. Almost one pot! Everybody have a wonderful day! Try.to stay cool.
Since it’s been so hot, I cooked supper for lunch. Barbequed chicken and broccoli with cheese sauce, peach tea, yellow cake with orange buttercream frosting.
Supper will be quick and easy Ham and cheese omelets. Whole wheat toast. Fresh strawberries. Keeps the kitchen cool at the hottest part of the day.
I didn’t have a clue what to fix for supper, but now I do. I needed to go to the grocery anyway so I will get the ingredients I need. Thanks again Christy for another Great idea.
I just threw some frozen meatballs into sauce in my crockpot. We’ll boil up some whole wheat pasta, make a quick green salad and have dinner in no time!
PPsssttt…Christy…come on now, girl-to-girl…are you wearing false lashes in that video?? If not, you MUST tell me what mascara you have on. You looked gorgeous!
Dern tootin’ I am! lol
Paula Deen taught me the value of that trick when I filmed with her. It really helps on camera because your eyelashes seem to disappear. However, there IS a mascara that I wear for everyday that makes your eyelashes look almost as good, it is the best stuff I have found (I would never wear those things unless I was filming) and it is made by Loreal. It’s called Voluminous Million Lashes and comes in a black tube with a goldish package. It really is worth it’s weight in gold! The other thing is make sure sure sure you curl your eyelashes before you put mascara on. Makes all the difference in the world!
Okay, I’ll stop talking makeup now

Baaack! there is a whole thread on the Front Porch of us talking about makeup and what we use and love best. You can read it by clicking here
http://frontporch.southernplate.com/index.php?/topic/1797-what-is-your-favorite-makeup/ I chimed in with everything I wear, lol
I have a big old eggplant that I have to use up, so I think I’ll make some eggplant parmigiana. Also, I made your bread pudding last night with some leftover hamburger buns that I had and it was simply delicious. I think I’ll throw some ice cream on top of it tonight & call it a day. Yummy!!!!!
my husband and i are very recent (last week
) empty nesters and we have made a bargain and a challenge with each other not to buy any staple or pantry items until we have used up the ones we have! that being said, we are having hamburger meat and any number of those items along with some avocado and salad! wish us luck! i love your blog, btw
Saved this to my recipe box for winter-too hot for this right now in Florida!
We are having steak done on the grill with baked potatoes and a crisp tossed salad.
I’ve just come off an extended stretch of night shifts, so all I want for dinner now is breakfast. I think it’ll be biscuits and gravy (with a spot of fruit salad as a nod toward healthiness!). This pasta looks good, and I’ll work it into the menu when I recover the will to cook regular food again!
Today we had eggplant casserole. Tonight omelets with wheat toast.
This sounds great and I really want to try it. Can you print out the recipe though so we know exactly how much of everything to add? It sure would help. Thanks for the wonderful recipes!
Sorry, I should have realized you would be a step ahead of me and would let us print the recipe. I wrote that before I went back and clicked the link.
I’m going to be the bad girl here , so sit down, i am mad because i couldn’t copy the recipe for the ” one pot meals” KATHY
Rather than be mad (because that isn’t very fun anyway), just go back to the post and click on where I say in bold (and partial red) “To get this recipe after you watch the video, please click here.”
When you click there, it has the recipe with a print or email option
Another good job as usual Christy. This would be a great dish to fix my family. I would leave out the mushrooms tho. Nice to customize for your on fam. Just wanted to say that I love what you have on! So k-ute!
Christy, I love the videos, but do you have the recipe printed somewhere where I can copy and save it on my computer? Gerry
Sorry, just found the link!!! DUH!
Gerry
Love this easy and versatile recipe! Easy cleanup is a much appreciated bonus too…thanks so much for sharing it. Love your blog and your SL videos. Have a blessed day!
Christy,
You looked great as always. The recipe sounds really easy and delicious. Tonight my husband Rick and I are having corned beef and cabbage. Our commissary had a great sale on them after St. Pat’s day and we froze one for later. I am cooking it in the slow cooker-and I have found it comes out more tender cooked low and slow in the cooker.
Have a great week,
Pam
Love that it only dirties one pot( hubby is deployed, so I like to cook
Simple but good meals for me and the kids)
Great recipe! When Italian Sausage is on sale, I use it instead of ground beef. Thanks Christy!
I’ve been making a casserole that is very similar to your one pot dish for years. Anything I can make in the morning and reheat at dinnertime is a hit with me!
Tonight we are having (for the first time) your Chicken Poulet recipe. I added a layer of mixed vegetables to make it a little healthified!
Hi Christy! Another great recipe and I love, love the way you walk us through them in the videos. I always need visual aids! I’m a Huntsville native so I grew up near where you live now. My whole family still does (though I’m in the Nashville area now, I’m always a ‘Bama girl first!) I am fixing Skillet Spaghetti Bolognese for supper tonight.
We’re having tuna noodle casserole–one of my hubby’s favorites!
Great recipe….I will have to try it! And Christy I love watching your Southern Livin’ videos, and hearing you say “Suthern Livin!” (The way is supposed to be said!! Thanks!

Didn’t see your post until after I’d been to the store. Hubby wanted spaghetti so it’s 2 pots instead of one.Hubby doesn’t like meat in his so i compromise and put in a few meatballs but add a lot of veggies. Bell peppers, onions, garlic, zucchini, small baby yellow squash, and mushrooms with the sauce. Next time I will make sauce the same but use some ravioli or other pasta to the one pot. Great ideas to make suited for your family. Enjoy your recipes and blog. Everyone have a blessed day.
Christy,
I love the video and can’t wait to try this easy and yummy recipe; great video for young homemakers and college kids.
Tell Southern Living a ” special thank you for having you ” with them, i love you both!!
Too hot to cook for hours in TEXAS,
Frankie
Supper tonight is Angel Hair pasta, added to a mixture of olive oil, grape tomatoes or whatever size I find in the kitchen, slived black olives and lots of fresh basil. My husband loves coming home to this supper. For a quick and delicious bread I butter flour tortillas, sprinkle with parmesan cheese, cut into wedges with a pizza cutter and lightly brown in the oven on bake. about 400 degrees for a few minutes will do it, and talk about good. Can’t stop eating them once you start. Served the tortillas at a luncheon recently and everyone wanted to know what and how. Try it. ummmmmm!
Yummy! This recipe sounds great and so easy. Thank you for sharing! The refridgerated pasta is a great idea, too! I love to add veggies to my pasta sauces too. I usually save the stem ends from broccoli and cauliflower (not the whole core) cook them until tender then run them through the processor and into the sauce. The children never knew they were in there. So I had one meal with nice broccoli florets and cauliflower then another with no compaints. Ha!
Love to read your emails! You make my day! True comfort foods!
You looked Beautiful and gave a good presention on the meal on your video, i love those one pot meals in the summer, This one looked yummy and so easy to make. Thank-You Christy, And I’ll be fixing this soon. Going to Print it now.
For supper tonight we are having whatever is in the refer-it’s over 96 degrees in Louisville, KY. There is no cooking going on to heat up the house.
Love the video. Sounds delicious. Tonight I made cornbread, sausage, gravy, scrambled eggs and chopped tomato. Hubby and I stirred it all up in a bowl and that was our supper. I never liked biscuits and gravy then when I met my hubby his family had cornbread and gravy and I love it as do my kids now.
Dinner tonight…My husband’s favorite casserole….Green chilis, Old English cheese, mushroom soup, browned hamburger, a few onion flakes and a little milk, all melted together and layered with torn up corn tortillas, baked in the oven….add a salad…..yum yum!!!!!!!!!
This sounds very good, Christy. I’ve never used the ravioli. it’s on my shopping list, I’m sure I’ll love it. You look great. Keep up the good work.
This sounds really yummy! Think it may be on the list for later this week. Tonight is meatloaf, mashed potatos, carrots and some fruit.
Tonight we’re having last night’s dinner plan because it was cancelled when the air conditioner took a vacation mid afternoon as the temp rose above 97*. If we can get a service call today, we’re having pork tenderloin with artichokes and capers and a side of mixed grain rice. When the tenderloin in cut in 1 – 1 1/2 inch slices and flattened, cook time to saute it is about 10 minutes, add in the artichoke hearts and capers for a quick simmer to heat it all, top with lemon slices, and dinner is on the table in 25-30 minutes. Tasty and tender.
Gonna cook this for supper soon! Less heat in the kitchen. More “great diner, Mom” at the table! Thanks!
Hi Christy-
Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I rushed home last night and made the dish for my husband who loved it!!! I think a healthy alternative would also be to used ground turkey, but the ground beef was wonderful and the pasta came out great!
Thanks again!
I didn’t know there was actually a “formal” recipe for this dish. I make it on a regular basis but it is never the same – depends on the sauce I choose and the veggies I hide in it – oops I should word that as the veggies I add in for variety. I have never made it with ravioli – we prefer tortelinni (any variety) or penne or mostaccioli – you get so much sauce with every bite because it is hollow and therefore the sauce is inside and outside. YUMMMM
No idea what supper will be tonight – making fruit trays for a wedding so might just have fruit salad, waffles and ice cream. Little or no meat during the week.
Christy I just love your recipes. They are so simple yet classy and delicious!
I think that you and Paula Deen are two of the most beautiful women – with or without your eyelashes curled. Have a great day.
I made this for supper last night!! OMGoodness!! The family loved it. I think I loved it also I ate 2 bowls:) so yummy but more than that…It was so easy to make!!
Thanks for sharing!

I teach nursing for a local community college, and I meet the neatest people! One of my students, an older lady with almost grown kids gave me a hint on how to use that over-abundance of squash that gets too huge to eat the “regular way.” Wash it to remove the grit and blooms, remove the stem and blossom end, and grate it down to the seed core, like cheese! Mix with flour, salt, pepper and an egg, drop by spoonfuls and fry them in vegetable oil, like fritters. I added chopped onion to mine and tried it for supper tonight. It was absolutely delicious! Both my husband and I definitely think this idea is a “keeper!” The squash I used was not that big, but it was getting on the tough side. The goats and chickens fight over the seed cores! Less waste! I love it! Thanks for sharing your great recipes and ideas!
I could almost ‘smell’ this! I am going to make this but will be using no-gluten pasta to accomodate my future son-in-law. I love making the jared sauces into my own creation and I love what you did here. So easy! Thanks, Christy for another great meal idea!
That looks excellent and I LOVE the one pot clean-up!
Tonight was grilled steaks and corn on the cob, and salad.
Hi Christy!! Today is our anniversary and THIS is what I’m making for dinner tonight!!!….I even have fresh basil right out of the garden!!
