Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish (from crescent rolls!)

I’m so grateful to have the amazing selection of groceries available to us that we have nowadays. It wasn’t too long ago when I remember blueberries just being too expensive to use in my baking. Nowadays, there really isn’t much I can’t get in terms of produce, no matter how far away it is grown. I love meandering down grocery store aisles and seeing what all they offer. Although, I do freely admit to missing the prices of the old days.

This recipe is a quick and easy fix for those of us who are blueberry lovers. It’s perfect for a morning treat or supper time dessert and just as simple as can be to make.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish (from crescent rolls!)

You’ll need: fresh blueberries, lemon juice, sugar, crescent rolls, cream cheese (check out our recipe for easy-peasy homemade cream cheese), butter, sugar sprinkles (optional), powdered sugar, and a wee bit of milk.

Add the blueberries to a small mixing bowl.  Sprinkle the lemon juice and granulated sugar on top of them and toss to coat. Set aside.

If a few accidentally land in your hand instead of the bowl you have to eat those. I mean, they touched your hand so your mouth now has expectations.

Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles (just break apart at the perforated lines ). Spread about a teaspoon of softened cream onto each crescent.

Add about 1 Tablespoon of the blueberries to each crescent (place at the wide end of each crescent) and roll all the way to the tip of the triangle just like they show on the can instructions.  Try to make sure all of the blueberries are covered by dough.

Brush the melted butter on top of each crescent roll.

We need a song about butter. Buttah buttah buttah makes it better better better!

What is your favorite butter? I’ve recently gotten into trying some of the higher end butters. I don’t get them often but my absolute favorite is the President brand butter from France. You can see the package here. I am NOT suggesting you buy it on Amazon but that link is just to see what it looks like. They sell it at a lot of grocery stores. Kerry Gold is a favorite of just about anyone and if you’ve never tried it you need to grab you some and check it out – it really is good and I love that one, too, but President is better :).

After the crescent rolls are about halfway done, add the powdered sugar to a small mixing bowl.  Add about a tablespoon of milk and stir until a thick glaze forms.

Remove crescent rolls from oven and allow to cool for 1 to 2 minutes before drizzling the glaze on top.

These are best when served warm.

Who are we kidding? Not like you were gonna wait til they cooled anyway…
