Last week my mother and I were talking about how it just makes a meal to walk into a house and smell bread baking. No matter what is served, a warm roll, generously smeared with a pat of butter is the perfect accompaniment to a home cooked meal.
But sometimes we don’t have time to bake that bread or sometimes we just want the convenience of having someone else bake it for us – and every Southerner knows that is when Sister Schubert’s comes in!
Our little secret resides in the freezer case and brings those same smells and tastes to the supper table no matter how busy life gets.
I’ve noticed that no matter how long I work on the meal, it’s that filled bread basket that gets passed around the most.
Mama and I have used Sister Schubert’s rolls for years so you can imagine my delight to be invited to her house next week! Turns out, Sister is a fellow Alabamian, and I’m heading down to her place to spend some time in the kitchen cooking up some goodness. I’ll be sharing photos of my day with you on Facebook, Instagram, and even here in a post when I write about the fun I know we are going to have.
With families near and far preparing to gather together for special meals all through the holidays, fresh, warm bread from the oven can be the easiest thing you make. I’m so excited to be able to visit Sister’s house and bring y’all with me through my posts here and on my social media channels!
Get set to tune in for some special ideas to make your holiday meals easier.
In the meantime, you can learn more about Sister by visiting her at the links below. Be sure and tell her Christy from Southern Plate sent ya!
I have been invited to participate in a Sister Schubert’s ambassador program, and this post is sponsored by Sister Schubert’s. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own. #SisterSchubertsHoliday
