This multi-tasking chunky homemade crockpot cinnamon applesauce can be served as a side dish this holiday season or enjoy it for dessert with vanilla ice cream.

6medium/large sized apples
1/2cupwater
1/2cuplight brown sugar
1/2tbspground cinnamon

Instructions
Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Place them into the crockpot and cover the apples with water. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, until the apples are soft and easily break apart.
6 medium/large sized apples, 1/2 cup water
Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and stir them into the apples.
1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Cover the apples again and continue cooking for 30 to 60 minutes. The applesauce is done when the apples break down after being stirred.
This recipe is designed to make chunky cinnamon applesauce. To thin the applesauce down, mix with an immersion blender, hand mixer, or run through a food processor.
