8wooden ice cream sticks
8small apples
Instructions
Wash the apples under warm water and dry them completely. Twist off the stems and push a wooden stick about halfway into each apple through the stem end. Grease a baking sheet or line it with buttered parchment paper.
3 cups sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup, 1/4 cup Cinnamon Red Hot Candies, 1/4 tsp red food coloring, 1 cup water
In a heavy medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, Red Hot candies, red food coloring, and 1 cup of water. Stir gently just to combine.
3 cups sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup, 1/4 cup Cinnamon Red Hot Candies, 1/4 tsp red food coloring, 1 cup water
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat without stirring. Clip a candy thermometer to the side of the pan, making sure the tip doesn't touch the bottom, and continue cooking without stirring until it reaches 290°F, about 20 to 25 minutes.
3 cups sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup, 1/4 cup Cinnamon Red Hot Candies, 1/4 tsp red food coloring, 1 cup water
Remove the pan from the heat and set it on a hot pad. Working quickly, dip and swirl each apple in the candy until evenly coated, then hold it over the pot for a few seconds so the extra can drip off. If the candy starts to thicken, set the pan over very low heat for a minute.
3 cups sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup, 1/4 cup Cinnamon Red Hot Candies, 1/4 tsp red food coloring, 1 cup water
Place the apples on the prepared baking sheet and let them cool for at least 1 hour, until the coating is hard. You can speed this up in the refrigerator.
