  1. Love my crock pot! Thanks for the great recipe, similar to the Thai Chicken recipe simmering away right now in my crock-pot; the working mama’s friend.

  2. Hmm..I want to love my slow cooker, but the majority of the dishes I try with meat come out dry and mealy. Especially the ones that say cook 6 to 8 hours. I even went and bought a new slow cooker and have the same problem. I never let boneless chicken breasts cook for more than 2 1/2 to 3 hours- but then that can defeat the purpose of the busy mom’s best friend at times. I have the best luck with bone-in meats or fatty meats like a beef chuck or pork butt. Every week I try a new recipe with my slow cooker, hoping for a new great recipe and my kids pretty much groan when they see it on the counter.

    1. Lisa, I’ve never had a meat come out dry in the slow cooker so lets compare notes if you can! What are you putting in for liquid? Have you tried any of my slow cooker recipes from SouthernPlate.com?
I’m going to be traveling to Charleston over the next few days so if you respond and don’t hear back for a bit that’s why.
      Gratefully,
      Christy

    2. I have the same problem. My son groans too, but what a great help the crockpot could be, if the meat would turn out.

  3. As we speak, I smell the delicious aroma of a boston butt that has been cooking in a cup of vinegar all day……..can’t wait!!! And tomorrow will be pinto beans in that same place…………go, crocks!!!!

  4. I s’pose I have to agree that I should buy a new cooker since mine is about 17yrs old. Just saw that on Amazon they’re having a “Crocktober event’ where you can save an extra $5 on a “Crockpot” brand cooker. For those interested, here’s the linky http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_357694422_3?ie=UTF8&docId=1000731491&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=auto-sparkle&pf_rd_r=0MAG0M064Q0W7DKQ0CDW&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=1322168082&pf_rd_i=slow%20cooker.

    1. I don’t own a single Rival brand (they make and own the trademark to “Crock Pot”) but my mama had one growing up. Thanks for posting the link!
You can also buy the latest Hamilton Beach slow cookers at Wal Mart and if y’all have a Big Lots, they always have a pretty good selection as well.

  5. I think I’ll try this tommorrow. I’ll have to substitute tenders, regular potatoes, and sliced whole carrots, but I’m sure it will still be delicious! Thanks!
