Southern Plate Cookbook Update!

csg-sign05

This sign was sent to be yesterday by Andrew Malcolm to congratulate me on finishing the book. It was made online but BOY did it make my day with a round of giggles!

This morning I turned in the manuscript for the Southern Plate Cookbook which is being published by Harper Studios, a division of Harper Collins. The book is a combination of stories, classic Southern recipes, and some of the most gorgeous photos of Southern food I’ve ever seen. I have worked with an amazing team in putting this book together and I am just about to burst with excitement because I want you to see it so badly!

This is YOUR Cookbook, put together by using your input on what you wanted to see, what recipes you cherished most, and what recipes have been lost that you want most to reclaim for your family. I did include some of the most popular ones on Southern Plate but also made sure to add several exclusive good old fashioned recipes as well – the ones I’ve been asked for the most since starting Southern Plate. I feel just like a child whose colored you a picture and can’t wait for you to get home so I can present it to you! Thank you SO MUCH for giving me this opportunity and for helping me to write this book.

It will be available for pre-order this summer and will be in all major bookstores by the fall. I have one more wish, to make the dream come true for me, I’d sure love to get to meet you! I hope to see you at a book signing once it’s out. I’ll post my schedule as soon as it’s finalized. If you’re a member of the Southern Plate Family, I owe you a hug!

*Note: My self published cookbook is no longer available. Thank you to everyone who purchased it and everyone who has been kind enough to ask if there are any more. I sure do appreciate it and feel confident that you’ll enjoy my new book even more!

I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions for where book signings should be held in the comments below!

Gratefully,

Christy 🙂

  1. Christy, I think your first book signing should be in Madison, AL. Afterall, that’s home for several of us! Best wishes.

    1. If ya decide to go to Charlotte, head west to Asheville, NC. It’s only 1.5 hours longer and we have much prettier scenery. The huge Biltmore estate (largest house in America) is here and tons of hiking and waterfalls nearby. Lots of family friendly activities too. Also, if you come in the fall during leaf season, you may never want to leave our breath taking views. I’d even be your tour guide 🙂

We have several wonderful independent local bookstores (Malaprops is great!)and of course the chain bookstores.

      1. Yay North Carolina!! I’m out in the sticks away from both of these places, but it would be worth the drive for sure!

        1. Another place in North Carolina would be the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area – fondly known at the Triangle…we would love to have you in our neck of the woods…however, I would go anywhere in NC to see you and get your book!! Congrats and God Bless!

      2. After you leave Ashville, drive a little farther South, thru Murphy, and Hayesville, N.C. and you will be in Blairsville Ga. We have a small town here in the mountains in a little bit O’God’s country. We would love to have you here. We have a lovely little independent book store—The Book Nook.
And then you could come on over to my house for dinner.
Thank you, Christy, I cant wait until your cookbook is available. We will enjoy it just as much as your every day blogs, facebook and emails. And especially enjoy all the great recipes that I know will be in this book.

        1. So, from Charlotte, after of COURSE visiting Ashville, Raleigh, and Blairsville, come to Columbia, SC! Home of the Gamecocks!

      3. Fayetteville or Asheboro, NC both would be cool. I live in a smaller town but both are like an 90 minute drive… Totally worth it.

Asheboro has a Zoo if you want to take the kids with you and do a US Zoo tour 😛

    2. Hey Christy,

Once you’re finished in Charlotte, NC head northwest to Hickory, NC (we have a great Barnes & Noble). You can stay on I-40 heading west and make your way to Asheville. Either way, I hope to meet you on your book tour!

  2. While it’s not down-south, I would love to see you here in Denver, Colorado. I grew up in Missouri and my grandmother was from Hillham, Tennessee, so I come from good southern people! Congrats on your book!

  3. I’d love to see you in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. That’s the next largest town close to where I live. Can’t wait to get your cookbook! So excited for you and your family!! 🙂

    1. I second that!! Amarillo would love to meet you!! It’s the largest town near the tiny town that’s near me : )

  4. I can’t wait to get your cookbook, Christy! You should come to my lovely hometown, El Dorado, Arkansas and do a book signing at Jefferson Street Books on the downtown square. 🙂

  5. My mom and I would vote for Lake Jackson, TX!!!! It is the next largest town to where we live, and there are quite a few in the area that are followers of your blogs.

    1. I live in Lake Jackson and that sounds like a great idea Michele! You could even stop by NASA before heading home.

    2. Michele and Quandora, I too live in Lake Jackson, TX and agree Christy should come here. We should get together and find other local ladies that love and follow southernplate.com
