This is a video from Goodbite.com for an interesting twist on Bruschetta. They did such a great job producing it but when I watched it I was immediately taken aback by the contrast of my Alabama accent compared to the hosts lovely, more “proper” accent. I can’t quite place hers but it is truly beautiful, and kept me laughing every time the camera cut back to me talking! I hope you enjoy the video and get to make this soon. Ingredients

  • 1 green onion chopped
  • 1/8 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 can black eyed peas with jalapeno if available
  • 4 Roma tomatoes diced
  • 1 can whole kernel corn
  • 1 cup zesty Italian dressing
  • 1 french baguette cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • butter

Instructions

  • Set Bread and Butter aside. To make caviar, combine all ingredients in a large bowl and stir. Refrigerate for thirty minutes.
  • Spread butter evenly over slices of bread. Toast in 350 oven. Top toasted bread pieces with Texas Caviar and garnish with additional parsley, if desired.

  1. I think whats most annoying is the fact that american woman cannot say Bruschetta properly. Please, if you are going to be in the food industry – learn how to pronounce the names of dishes!

    1. Good thing I’m not in the “food industry” then.

      If this is the most annoying thing you encounter then you must have a pretty good life and a lot to be grateful for.

      Personally, I can think of far more serious things to get annoyed about (children going hungry, cancer, networks who always find the one Southerner in pink rollers to interview after a tornado) so I’m not one to get my dander up about someone partaking of their freedom to pronounce how they see fit (in this case, that’d be me). ~grins~

      It’s a beautiful world (even with us pesky Americans) ~winks~ and I’m glad your corner is sunny! Wishing you the best of everything.

      1. I loved the bit about the one Southerner in pink rollers to interview after a tornado – the news people do that around here. Find the one person who has obviously just rushed out without makeup or taking their rollers out or something embarrassing then ask them all about their opinions on whatever whilst the poor woman is dying of embarrassment – just thinking about what the neighbours will say…
        There are many connections between the Southern states and Northern England and this is another.

    Her accent is mixed. Sometimes an English pronunciation, and a little American with some New Zealand overtones on some of the words.
    However, if she has travelled a lot and lived in different countries that would explain it.

  5. I think the Texas Caviar would also make a yummy filling for a pita bread sammich (Chicagoese for sandwich). Loved the video. BTW, I have always found the Southern lilt charming. 😀
