  1. I just made this last night, added basil and grape tomatoes, also sealed the chicken in a pan just before the oven. It was incredible delicious I am so glad I run into your recipe! Thanks!

  2. Christy – I really enjoyed this latest video and I really enjoyed the biscuit video! I can’t wait for you to post your other biscuit videos! I’ve been making biscuits every weekend since watching it and my girls have been helping also. My husband is going to watch it too so he can make biscuits at the fire station for all the men to enjoy! 🙂 Thanks, Jennifer

P.S. Kuddos on winning the oven – That is so nice!

  3. Hi Christie,
What a great video, thanks for posting it. I enjoy your emails and really appreciate all that you share with us. Congrats on your oven, I’m sure that you will really enjoy it.

As for the gardening I can understand battling the elements. But fortunatly there is a way around them. we also have large trees that we are not wanting to remove so we did prune some of the lower branches to allow more light through and it made a big difference. we also switched to raised gardens. So in other wards we plant everything in vegetable boxes or containers. This allows the soil to warm up faster. You could try planting cool season veggies (spinach, peas, beans, lettuce, carrots and beets are a few.) that way you would n’t have to rely solely on the sun in order for them to grow. They also grow in the Fall. My Swiss chard. kale and sage last through the winter. I also do herbs and cherry tomatoes on my patio and they do really well. One more thing if you planted one crop in a location they suggest to rotate it. for instance the tomatoes could go in one spot and plant something else where the tomatoes were grown. Hopefully this is of some help, all the best to you and thank-you again for sharing the video.

    1. Christie one more thing I forgot to mention my chives seem to be perfectly happy growing in the rose garden but they would grow well with onions. And beans would grow well with your potatoes. I wish I would of found this email sooner sorry I replied so late. All the best.

  4. Christy, I just watched your video chat, and having just read a few hours ago about your dog Sweetie, I almost lost it near the end of your video when both your precious dogs jumped on your lap for hugs and kisses. Like so many others, I am praying that Sweetie is warm and safe, and will make her way back to your family very soon.

On a happier note, congratulations on winning that awesome oven! That was a funny story about how you thought your prize was the slow cooker. I can’t wait to read more about it once you have it installed. I wish we had gas lines where we live because I prefer it so much better than cooking on an electric stove.

I’m not on Instagram or Facebook, but I do enjoy checking out your posts at both sites. I had no idea that Facebook charged for posts to reach your fans. I know so little about Facebook that I just assumed that anyone following your page would automatically see any post that you made.

As far as your trying to find a way to reach your followers daily, I agree with the others who said they wouldn’t mind if your newsletter were a daily email. But, I have an idea that you might want to consider. You can keep your regular newsletters that you send out to your list of subscribers a few times a week, but also do something else for the daily contact that you want. I follow another site, (on a totally different topic), that just last year developed a sort of morning news update email. Those of us who wanted to subscribe did and now we get a morning news email from the site owner every weekday.

So, maybe you can come up with a clever name, something like “Southern Plate Daily Sunshine”, “Southern Plate Morning Blast”, “Morning Greetings from Christy Jordan of Southern Plate”, “Morning Coffee Chat from Christy Jordan of Southern Plate”, “Rise & Shine with Christy Jordan of Southern Plate” – you get the idea, lol. I particularly like that last one. It can be entirely separate from your regular newsletters and serve as that daily message that you said in the video you would like to share with your readers. You can post about it on your site, plus on Facebook, and have those who are interested sign up for it. I’m assuming you can maintain a separate subscription list for it. I’d certainly love and be grateful for a morning pep talk from you every day!

As far as your book, I will certainly pray for you as you work hard to complete it. And, I am praying for little Sweetie. Please keep us updated!
