Why These Appetizers Are a Huge Hit

These cheeseburger sliders are the kind of appetizer that disappears faster than you can set the tray down. Baked in one pan with no grill in sight, they’re easy to throw together with simple ingredients and even easier to serve up hot and fresh. That buttery, golden top is brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with sesame seeds for a little extra crunch, while the inside stays soft and packed with melty cheese and seasoned beef.

What makes them really shine, though, is how easy they are to customize! You can swap in ground turkey if you’re going lighter, add crispy bacon or caramelized onions, or even layer in your favorite sauce to give ’em some kick. They’re just the right size for birthday parties, family BBQs, or any gathering where folks are grazin’ and chattin’.

They’re also perfect for football season, just like these other recipes!

How to Make the Best Oven-Baked Cheeseburger Sliders

Brown the Beef

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish, or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

In a skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of ground beef with 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon onion powder. Stir occasionally until the beef is fully browned.

Tip: Make sure to drain any excess fat after cooking. This helps prevent soggy sliders.

Prep the Buns

Without separating your rolls, slice your slider buns or dinner rolls horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls in your prepared baking dish.

Evenly spread the cooked beef mixture over the buns. Lay 4 to 6 slices of cheddar or American cheese across the top.

Add the Fixings

If you’re using dill pickle slices, add one to each slider. Drizzle with ketchup and yellow mustard (optional).

Place the top half of the rolls over the filling, gently pressing down to help everything stick together.

Bake to Golden Perfection

Brush the tops of the buns with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds if desired.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melty and the tops are golden brown.

Slice & Serve

Let the sliders cool for a minute or two, then use a sharp knife to cut them into individual sliders.

Cheeseburger Sliders FAQs

How do I store leftovers?

Store any leftover cheese sliders in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 300°F for 5–10 minutes to avoid soggy sliders.
What’s the best cheese to use?
American cheese melts beautifully and gives that classic burger flavor, but cheddar, pepper jack, or Colby Jack also work great!
Can I use garlic butter instead of plain butter?
Yes, and it’s delicious! Mix melted butter with a pinch of garlic powder and brush it over the tops of the rolls before baking for extra flavor.
