They’re saying it’s gonna snow again but here in Alabama we get twenty snow warnings to every snowflake that drops so I’ll hold off on expectations of a winter wonderland. After all, we already had one miracle in the past thirty days.  Whether we get snow or not the temperature is still dropping so I thought I’d share some great old fashioned recipes to help keep you warm over the next few days while I finish up some new recipes posts to bring you. Gratefully, Christy

Old Fashioned Stovetop Hot Chocolate

I’ll never forget the first time I had homemade, real, hot chocolate, made on the stove and not with a mix. Although we made our ownmix from scratch (and it was delicious) there was just something about that extra chocolaty decadence of classic hot chocolate, with that little extra bit of cocoa lingering for the last sip that had me hooked. Click here to print recipe.

Homemade Cinnabuns – The Easy Way!

These cinnamon rolls have power behind them – real power. You could pretty much get anything you wanted if you showed up toting a plate of these babies, warm with icing oozing down the side.

Our Family’s Chicken Stew Recipe

Please make this chicken stew.

Its that good. Its so good that it actually bothers me to think that some of you might only look at the photos, read the tutorial, and never make it. Its so good that if I could, I would seriously arrange a time and place for all of us to meet up under a tent somewhere in the middle of the country just to serve you this chicken stew. Its just……..its…..well folks, its just so good!

Mama’s Hoe Cake

I can honestly say that this is a rare recipe, having searched and not found it anywhere online. I do hope you will try it and guarantee that if you like biscuits, you’ll LOVE hoe cake.

This is especially good with Crock Pot Apple Butter!

Where did you learn to cook like that??” It was so sweet and one of her comments for the books. It also madethe chicken stew a new family favorite at my house!! Thank you so much for saring all of your recipes with us!!

  2. I am so glad to see the cinnabun recipe. I remember as a child eating cinnabuns with pecans and raisins but haven’t been able to find them anywhere ready made so I will use this recipe to make my own. Thanks for all your wonderful recipes. I had almost given up cooking but you have inspired me to rattle the pots and pans again. Bought your book and I’m loving it too. Bon Appetit!!!

  3. Christy,

I received your cookbook for Christmas and have already cooked a half a dozen recipes and can’t wait to make more. A lot of the recipes remind me of my grandmother and my husbands grandmother. Each time I make one of these recipes it makes feel closer to them.

Hope your family is staying warm in the snow. We live in Arab and are probably snowed in for a couple of days. Which is fine with us because we can just try more of your recipes.

    Keep the good food coming,
