Simple Ingredients
- Self-rising flour
- Heavy cream
- Granulated garlic
- Bacon
- All-purpose flour
- Whole milk
- Salt and black pepper

Easy Substitutions
No need to stress if you’re missing a couple of things here! Don’t have self-rising flour or granulated garlic? I’ve got you! To make self-rising flour, just mix 1½ teaspoons of baking powder and half a teaspoon of salt per cup of all-purpose flour. And if you’re out of granulated garlic, you can easily substitute it with garlic powder.
Make Garlic Cheddar Biscuits Instead!
I get it, cheddar makes everything better! For garlic cheddar biscuits, add ⅓ cup of shredded parmesan cheese or cheddar cheese and 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh chives to the biscuit dough.

How to Make Garlic Biscuits and Bacon Gravy
1. Cook your bacon strips in a small skillet. When cooked to your liking, place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease before rinsing the skillet and set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour and garlic. Then add in cream and stir until it forms a stiff dough.

3. Next, pour the dough out onto a floured surface and press it into a ball with your hands. Press the dough out flat, then bring it into a ball again. Repeat this four times to knead.

4. Once it’s all kneaded, use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to about ½-inch thickness. Then grab a biscuit cutter or a glass jar dipped in flour and cut out the biscuits.

5. Place the biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake at 450°F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

6. Now add the bacon grease to the small skillet with the AP flour. Stir over medium heat until the flour is browned.

7. Reduce the heat to low and whisk in the milk. Stir constantly until the gravy thickens and no lumps remain, about 7-8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Tip: This gravy is meant to be a little thicker than usual in order to be able to smear the biscuits with it.
8. To assemble the biscuits, cut each biscuit in half and top it with freshly cooked bacon strips and a smear of thick bacon gravy. Serve warm and enjoy!

Here’s an idea! Instead of serving the slices of bacon separately, another option is to crumble bacon into little bits and mix them into the gravy for extra flavor!

Ways to Serve Your Biscuits and Bacon Gravy
These yummy biscuits with bacon gravy would make a delicious appetizer or breakfast option. For the ultimate breakfast sandwich, add a fried egg and a slice of cheese to the mix.
You can also enjoy the biscuits as a side dish alongside hearty mains like Creamy Root Vegetable Soup, Alabama Camp Stew (a.k.a Brunswick Stew), or Crock Pot Chili.
Bacon gravy isn’t just for biscuits either, it’s also fantastic over waffles, toast, fried potatoes, or mashed potatoes. Don’t knock it til you try it!

Storage
You can store leftover drop biscuits in an airtight container in the fridge or at room temperature for up to 3 days. I like to reheat them in the oven or air fryer.
As for the bacon gravy, you can store leftovers in an airtight container or a mason jar in the fridge for up to 4 days. I recommend reheating them on low heat on the stove top. You might need to add a touch more milk if it’s too thick, but see how ya go!

I love the brown gravy. More flavor than regular white gravy. Makes me think of my mom, because she made it.
I am making these right now to enjoy with the game. They look yummy (fattening, but yummy) Thanks Christie.
Oops should have been a y not an ie. Sorry.
I hope you enjoyed them and the game Randy!!
I agree Beatrice, brown gravy does have the flavor!!
When I was little Daddy would make this gray on the weekend for us 7 kids while Momma made biscuits. We called it “POOR MAN’S GRAVY” as it was nothing but bacon grease, flour and milk all which most of us country folks had. A lot of people will think this doesn’t sound good but it was so yummy when we were really lucky there would be the round end of the chunk of bologna left which Daddy would cut up into little cubes, fry good and brown then add it to that poor man’s gravy to go over the biscuits. TALK ABOUT SOME GOOD EATIN’!!!!!

I know this “bacon loving family” will love these! Thanks for another great recipe.
Christy, my dad always made bacon gravy instead of sausage gravy for us growing up!!! Love it then and still do! I’ve taken to adding bacon to the gravy in pieces just because I love bacon! Good over toast, biscuits, half-ripe tomatoes, and hashbrowns!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Psssst…Christy…I know you’d never leave off someone’s name a-purpose, but it does say on the Bacon Bash that one of the contributors was Kami Bigler of NoBiggie. Love and Hugs! ~~Paula
