Independence Day Recipe Roundup!

As we celebrate Independence day, many folks will be gathering with family and friends – and food! Today I thought I’d share with you some family favorite recipes that add a fun red, white, and blue theme to your tables.

Independence Day Recipe Roundup!

Patriotic Punchbowl Cake

This is my husband’s favorite dessert of all time. I always make him one on his birthday each year. You can lighten it up by using sugar free pudding and “lite” cool whip.

Patriotic Jello Jars

So much fun and the kids are always impressed! I make these a few days before and store them in the fridge. If I’m taking them places, the handy lids let me just put them in a cooler and folks can grab their own little dessert whenever they want.

StrawberryAde

No one will believe this is a sugar free drink. There is the natural sugar from the strawberries but that is it!

Pulled Pork BBQ (Crock Pot Recipe!)

Boston Butts are on sale this week at my local grocery store so I plan on making a big batch of this barbecue for us to make sandwiches with on the fourth. This is a very moist and tender pulled pork bbq like you’d find in Alabama and many parts of North Carolina.

Fall Apart Tender Ribs (Made in the oven!)

Because I have never once said “It’s 100 degrees outside! I sure would love to go out there and stand over a fire!”, I make these fall apart ribs in the oven.

A shortcut version of Mama’s potato salad.

Thomas’ BBQ Potato Salad

This is a mashed potato salad that is my copycat version of a local bbq places recipe. Did you really need three potato salad recipes? Well folks like all different kinds so I’m covering my bases!

  2. I love your recipes. And the beautiful
Word of our heavenly father. It took me awhile to believe in my Lord since
I loss my son I was unbeliever. Thanks
For all you done for all of us. Have a great 4th.

  3. Christy,

I love to brag up my dollar store reading glasses. Well I guess I better stop doing that and make me an appointment with the optometrist because I was so excited to see your picture of the hamburger patties studded with onions in this post and then realized it is a photo of red velvet cookies haha. And NO it isn’t your photography-it is this old girl’s eyes!!

  4. Thank your for your great recipes and stories! You always brighten my day. I am curious if you make lettuce type salads and have recipes to share.

  5. Thanks for all the GREAT recipes! Always love cooking your stuff! I’ve been a fan/follower of yours for years.

  6. I just want to thank you for all your warm stories, yummy recipes, and encouraging words. I’m a mom of three teens and financially starting over…. And you are always reminding me to keep looking up to our Heavenly Father…..

      1. Christy I would so love to join your group of women of faith, fun and fellowship that you are starting on facebook.
Is there any way I can join without using facebook? I don’t have a facebook account due to the nature of my job. Just one of those government jobs that requires privacy.
I live in San Diego California and I would love to make some friends with the same ideals and values.
Thank you for your daily joy and faith- you have lifted me up many times and I keep you and your family in my prayers. Petra

        1. Hey Petra! We would absolutely love to have you! I’m afraid it’s a facebook group so the only way to participate is through a facebook account. My one suggestion is to maybe make a “dummy account” with a pseudonym and fake profile picture (your favorite cartoon character or flower, etc) and use that just for the group. I have a fake account named for a rabbit I raised, with their photo, as a backup account should I ever get blocked from adminning my page 🙂
Thank you for your kindness and prayers, they are more appreciated than you could know!
