Our Easy Pumpkin Pie Dip Recipe (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Whip the Cream Cheese

In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar with a hand mixer or stand mixer until smooth and creamy. This helps avoid lumps later.

Step 2: Add Pumpkin and Spices

Step 3: Chill & Serve

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Chilling helps the flavors mingle together and makes the dip extra refreshing.

That’s it! Three easy steps to what’ll be the best part of that fall meal!

What to Serve with Pumpkin Pie Dip

One of the best parts of this recipe is choosing your dippers. A few good options include:

  • Gingersnap cookies (a classic!)
  • Apple slices or caramel apple slices
  • Vanilla wafers or vanilla wafer cookies
  • Cinnamon graham crackers
  • Biscoff cookies

More than a dip: Spread it over toast, bagels, or muffins for a sweet morning treat, or layer it with crushed cookies and whipped cream to make a quick trifle. You can even spoon it into mini cups and top with granola for a fall-inspired parfait, if you’re feelin’ fancy!

Basically, if it pairs well with pumpkin spice, it’s fair game.

Scaling the Recipe

If you’re making this Pumpkin Pie Dip for more than just a few people, it’s super easy to double (or even triple) the recipe! Just keep the ratios the same and mix everything in a large bowl or stand mixer so it blends evenly. One batch makes about 4 servings, so for a holiday party or potluck, go ahead and scale up.

Just remember that this dip disappears quickly, so making extra is never a bad idea!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use pumpkin pie filling instead of puree?

It’s best to stick with canned pumpkin puree. Pumpkin pie filling is already sweetened and spiced, which can make your dip too heavy.
Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Yes! In fact, it tastes even better after chilling for a few hours. Just keep it in the fridge in an airtight container until serving.
What’s the best way to make this dip extra fluffy?
Fold in Cool Whip or whipped heavy cream. It adds airiness and makes it taste almost like pumpkin mousse.
How long does pumpkin pie dip last?
Stored properly, it’ll keep in the fridge for 2–3 days. Just give it a quick stir before serving.

  1. I really needed this inspirational post today. When times are tough it is hard to keep your head up and to remember that things could be worse. Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂

  2. Thanks for the reminder of giving to others, it does a heart good.

Be sure to enjoy my home town of Lexington, Ky on your book tour. Wish I could see you there, but I’m in Ga these days.

  3. What kind of person gets offended at someone else’s generosity? You have to feel sorry for someone like that. I love reading about your kind heart and you give us all examples of things we might not think of to do for someone.

  4. This looks like a good recipe to try. On your message of giving…please don’t forget that there are a lot of animals that need our help as well. Many shelters and rescues can use donations of linens, beds, food, litter, $$$.

    1. Meals on Wheels gladly takes pet food donations to give to their shut ins. This keeps the shut ins from giving their only meal of the day to their pet. an elderly person will do without to feed their pet as many times the pet is their only friend they see. my daughters class at school hosted a milk and cookies ball and to get into the dance the students had to bring at least $5 worth of pet food. It was a huge success and meals on wheels was so happy to have the pet food to pass out. animal shelters will take old clean towels or blankets to use for bedding.

  5. I gotta try this dip in my “picky” grandson for a snack. (I get to watch him after school most days!) Nothing wrong with graham crackers, but I might be able to sneak some healthy fruit into him too.

As always, your post is an inspiration as well as a joy to read! Thanks!

  6. My family loves this recipe. They even like it with peanut butter cookies and snickerdoodle cookies. This also makes a terrific frosting for a spice or gingerbread cake!
