These three-ingredient Golden Grahams treats are made with Golden Grahams, marshmallow cream, and butter. I like to think of them as an over-the-top version of the classic Rice Krispie treat that’s just as sticky sweet and delicious.

Golden Grahams treats

All you need to make my ridiculously quick and easy Golden Grahams treats are Golden Grahams, marshmallow creme (also known as marshmallow cream or marshmallow fluff), and unsalted butter. The instructions are as simple as melting the marshmallow creme and the butter, then mixing that with the Golden Grahams and tossing the gooey marshmallow mixture in a baking dish. Then voila, you have yourself Golden Grahams’ cereal treats.

Now, I do recommend cooling the treats before eating, but if you wanna eat it straight out of the pan while warm, I’m not looking 😉. I hope you enjoy these ooey-gooey deliciously sweet cereal bars. Helpful Kitchen Tools

How to Make Golden Grahams Treats:

mix marshmallow cream and butter in a bowl

Dump your marshmallow cream and butter in a bowl.

I just put that bowl in the microwave and microwave it at 30 to 45-second intervals, stirring in between each, until it is nicely blended and one big bowl of delicious buttery marshmallow goop. (You could also do this on the stove, if you prefer!)

grease pan

Grease a 9×13 baking pan either with butter or cooking spray. I went with cooking spray.

microwaved marshmallow and butter mixture

Here is what the combined marshmallow and butter mixture looks like

add your golden grahams

Add in your Golden Grahams.

store golden graham treats until well-coated

Stir that up until well coated.

At first, it is going to seem like you’ll never get it all coated but then all of a sudden the whole bowl seems to turn white.

spread cereal into pan

Spread your cereal mixture out into your prepared pan and press it down just a bit.

Not enough to crush the Grahams but to just help them stick together some.

This isn’t going to be a super firm; these bars will still have some give to them and taste fresh even a day later.

enjoy your marshmallow treats!

Enjoy your marshmallow treats (and believe me, you will).

Storage

Leftover gooey Golden Graham bars will last up to a week when stored in an airtight container at room temperature. However, fresh is best when it comes to these cereal treats, so I do recommend trying to eat them within a few days if possible.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use mini marshmallows instead?

Yes, you can substitute mini marshmallows for the cream. I believe the substitution should be around 2 cups for every container of marshmallow cream (at least that is what Kraft says). I think there is far more marshmallow cream in that 7-ounce container than 2 cups of mini marshmallows, though.

If I were me (and it just so happens that today I am), I would just go buy marshmallow cream because I think that is one of the secrets to this recipe being so stinking good and it is only about a dollar a container.

Can you make cereal treats with other types of cereal?

You betcha! I personally love to make this recipe with Fruity Pebbles. But other great options include Cocoa Puffs and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Let your imagination run wild!

How do you make a Golden Graham smores bars recipe?

For the s’mores effect, you can add up to 1 cup of mini chocolate chips to the bowl when you microwave the marshmallow fluff and butter. Then follow the remaining instructions. The milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet chocolate chips, whatever you’ve got) combined with the Golden Grahams and melted marshmallow cream gives you that s’mores taste without the campfire!

  1. Oh God, and I love rice krispie bars made with puffed wheat! These need to be kept a dark secret, now I have to see if I can find some golden graham cereal, and make them with the choc chips for my son in law! I love smores myself, but we used to make them with pep patties which of course are chocolate coated peppermint patties! Not sure how I’d get those flavours! LOL
I’ve never seen the cream up here, just the marshmallow stuff in the jars from Kraft, I don’t think it says fluff, or cream, it just says marshmallow for ice cream topping.

  2. Oh Christy girl, you make me smile and so durn happy. When I am down – I just find a post from you and my world turns right around.

  3. I have made these for marching band dinner desserts. I mixed it well, added mini choc. chips and whole mini marshmallows and mixed well. After spreading it in the pan, I added a few more m’mallows on top, popped it in the oven on broil for just a few seconds to brown them. The kids have asked for more of those “s’mores bars” several times. I’ve also made another version of these using just fruit loops. They loved these too!

  4. I suspect I could just slap that hunk-o-yum to my hips and thighs and call it good! Love the statement “taste fresh even a day later”…yeah, like that’s gonna happen!!! Thanks for another wonderful way to cater to my sweet tooth!!
