Fall Coffee Done Right at Home

I’m not usually one for flavored coffees, but I make an exception every fall when it’s pumpkin spice season. You’d think that after making desserts like my Pumpkin Cream Cheese Pie, Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls, and Pumpkin Crumb Cake, I’d get sick of pumpkin, but it’s quite the opposite.

The thing is, if you go to a coffee shop, you can easily pay over $5 for a single drink, which is just craziness in my book. And since my local Starbucks doesn’t offer a sugar-free version, I decided to make my own at home. And folks, it’s delicious.

Some homemade pumpkin spice lattes use pumpkin puree or real pumpkin, but we’re keeping it simple here with just 4 ingredients and 5 minutes of your time. Because I don’t know about you, but when I want my coffee, I want it now. I’ll tell ya, one sip of this rich, creamy, warmly spiced latte and you’ll never want to order one at the coffee shop again!

In a different microwave-safe cup, heat the milk in the microwave until hot. Then, using a handheld milk frother, froth the milk until it’s nice and fluffy.

Add the frothed milk to the cup of coffee and stir well.

Skinny Pumpkin Spice Latte FAQs

Can I make this an iced pumpkin spiced latte?

Sure thing! All you have to do is switch the frothed milk for cold milk, pour it over a glass of ice, and you’re good to go!

What other types of coffee can I use?

You can swap regular brewed coffee for two shots of espresso or decaf. Either way, you’ll still get that delicious pumpkin spice flavor you’re after!

How do I know when the milk is hot enough?

You want the milk to be hot but not boiling. I usually microwave it for about 45 to 60 seconds, then give it a quick stir before frothing. If it starts to bubble up or form a skin on top, it’s gotten a little too hot, so just let it cool for a moment before frothing.

  1. I love to keep up with you and your recipes, too. Thank you for being so transparent. What a witness you are for our Lord that we Christians do NOT have it all together but live by His grace and sufficiency! I am sure you get it all done because you first sit at His feet daily and then let Him take over. I have found that no matter how busy my day is going to be, I only have a successful day when I first give Him some of my time in prayer and Bible reading. Then He seems to take over my day and I sometimes even get MORE done than on my list. AND that I flounder when I don’t first spend time with Him. Sounds crazy but His Crazy Love cannot be explained.
Thank you for all you do!

  2. Easy, yummy, great! And I bet that milk frother would work really well for making whipped cream, too. Which would be way easier/quicker than using a mixer, etc. Thanks, Christy!

  3. I saw you on Paula Deen when it originally aired and have been faithful follower ever since! I have your cookbooks and just love everything about your website. I can’t wait to try this recipe…I’m a caramel lover myself so I’m already lickin’ my chops! I especially love when you let us know where to get these little helpers…Amazon delivered my frother today!

Christy, you are a blessing and I believe your career has become a type of ministry to us! You don’t have to be standing in a pulpit to deliver a powerful message!

    Thanks for all you do!

    1. I’ve just spoken with the Florida Attorney General’s offcieYou can reach them at 1-850-414-3930 (I believe it’s option 1 in the list). There are multiple complaints against these companies. The gentleman at the offcie implied that an investigation is most likely when complaints reach a critical mass, and they can establish a pattern of abuse. So it might be a good idea for all of you to call. This company is in fact engaged in several types of abuse:- Timeshares- Mortgages- Credit card scams- Auto warranties

  4. Christy,
I have been reading your blog for a couple of years now and I love it! Your positivity and kindnesses are so refreshing and welcomed! I have one off topic question- how do you get to bed so dang early and still get everything done? I am an early riser, too, 5 at the latest, but would love to get up at 4 so I could have an extra hour for coffee and my daily devotions before getting ready for work, cooking breakfast, waking the kids, etc. right now 10 is the earliest I can manage, but would love to get to bed at 9 when I put the kids to bed. Most of the time, I still have supper to clean up after they go to bed. I’m not a TV watcher, or a facebooker, it’s just getting the daily chores done that puts me late getting to bed. Any suggestions?

    1. Hey Susan! It’s so good to hear from you today!
One thing is that my kids are both older, 16 and ten, so I don’t really put them to bed or have to worry about that. The other thing is that my husband is a night person. He gets a ton done in the evenings whereas I get a ton done in the mornings. So I pretty much turn the house over to him when I go to bed and he just naturally stays up late. I don’t do supper dishes, he does them. Usually, he will get a load in the dishwasher and a load of laundry in the washer and then dryer before he comes to bed. I wake up and just take the morning shift :). My preferred time to get up is 4:00-4:30 but I have been sleeping in till five or five thirty lately for various reasons. Now that school is back in, time to hold myself to hold my feet to the fire! I am doing good if I am in bed by nine but my ideal is 8:00 so I can read until 9:00. Most of the time, I hit the hay at nine nowadays and try to be asleep by ten. This is really too late, though. Hope this helps!

      1. Thanks for the response! I was wondering myself to pieces trying to figure out how you got it all done in such a timely manner! My husband works a lot of evenings, so that formula won’t work for me 🙁 but I agree with getting as much done at night as possible! Probably why I can’t get to bed… I usually put a load of laundry in the wash last thing each night and then get them in the dryer first thing each morning just to stay on top of “laundry mountain”! I am freezing meals on the weekend and trying to do all of my grocery shopping then too to avoid extra trips out after work/school to save time during the week. School started this week here so my feet are in the fire as well!! My girls are 9 & 11. Keep up the good work and God Bless!

  5. I cannot wait to try this! I LOVE my pumpkin spice lattes but hate paying for it! 🙂 When you make your coffee with the keurig, which cup setting do you use? It looks like the smallest cup in the video. Thank you so much for sharing!!

  6. Can you give us a recipe for crock pot chicken and dumplings? Like all your followers, I love your recipes and the stories about your family. You always make a good day a better one. God bless.
