Delicious Apple Pie Flautas
There’s a certain kind of magic in smashing my two favorite food worlds together—Mexican flautas and Southern-style cinnamon apples—into one irresistible, tasty treat. These crispy, golden rolls are stuffed with tender, buttery apple filling (no can of apple pie filling here!), making them the perfect handheld dessert. My husband’s reaction after his first bite? “Oh, WOW.”
This easy recipe is my go-to when I need something quick, delicious, and impressive, whether for a party idea or just satisfying a sweet craving. It’s got the makings of a great apple pie, without all the drama of actually making one.
If you love these, you’ll adore my other apple recipes like Apple Bread, Apple Brownies, Homemade Apple Fritters, and Caramel Apple Cheesecake. Because when it comes to apples, I’m at the top of the tree.

How to Make Apple Flautas
1. To start, heat oven to 325°F. Then, in a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with cinnamon and set aside.
2. Next, melt butter in a skillet. Use a pastry brush to coat melted butter on each side of the tortilla, and sprinkle each side with 1/2 tsp cinnamon sugar mixture.
3. Now place tortillas on an ungreased baking sheet. Put them in the oven for a few minutes until just warm and pliable.
4. Remove from oven and roll in tortillas loosely to make tubes, placing them seam side down on the baking sheet and returning to oven for about 10 minutes, until browned and crispy.
5. Meanwhile, saute apples in the remaining butter in a skillet over high heat with 1 T sugar, until browned and tender. Add in a dash of lemon juice.
6. Remove browned tortilla tubes from the oven and spoon the apple mixture into them. Serve and enjoy!
Here’s a tip!
The recipe says to add a tablespoon of sugar at step 5, but with all that leftover cinnamon sugar sitting there, I figured, why not use that instead? Honestly, no clue why I didn’t try this sooner!

Can’t wait to make your Apple Flautas! We make something very similar, “Mexican Crepes.” I melt a little butter in a skillet. When it’s sizzling, I put a tortilla in the pan and lightly brown each side. When finished, I dredge it in a cinnamon sugar mixture. After the tortilla is covered in cinnamon sugar, I add fresh sliced strawberries or blueberries to it and roll it up. We top it off with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips.
Oh Yummm!!!!
