How to Make a Vanilla Dutch Baby:
Put an iron skillet in a cold oven, and preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Prepare the batter by combining the eggs, warmed milk, flour, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl.
**Here is an iron skillet that we love and recommend! It makes a big difference to have one of these when you make your dutch baby! And in general to have one in your kitchen is a great idea.
Whisk the batter until all the ingredients are well-combined and there are no lumps! Set the batter aside and wait for the oven to be completely pre-heated.
When the oven is hot, carefully remove the hot iron skillet and put the butter into the skillet to melt.
Spread the butter around until it coats the bottom of the skillet.
Pour the batter for the vanilla dutch baby into the pan. DO NOT mix the butter into the batter. Just pour it in and let it be!
Put the skillet back into the oven and bake the vanilla dutch baby for 20-25 minutes, until the sides of the dutch baby are golden brown.
Dust with powdered sugar, and add some fruit if you wish!
Serve immediately. Enjoy!!
